What Does "Feeling Stuck" Mean?
"Feeling stuck" is a mental and emotional state where you feel trapped, stagnant, or unable to move forward in some area of your life—whether in your career, relationships, personal growth, or creativity. It often comes with:
· A sense of being "frozen" – Wanting to make progress but feeling paralyzed.
· Frustration & self-doubt – Questioning your abilities or decisions.
· Lack of motivation – Even if you know what you should do, taking action feels impossible.
· Repetitive thoughts – Going in mental circles without finding solutions.
· Fear of change – Worrying that any move you make could lead to failure.
In this video, we’ve included a short but powerful meditation that includes a sacred activation that can help you when you feel like you’re stuck.
So Why Do People Feel Stuck?
Common causes include:
· Fear of failure or success (self-sabotage).
· Overwhelm (too many options or responsibilities).
· Lack of clarity (not knowing what you truly want).
· Perfectionism (waiting for the "perfect" moment).
· Past trauma or limiting beliefs (mental blocks).
· External pressures (society, family, or financial constraints).
What Are Some Things You Can Do to Get Unstuck?
There is a meditation that can help with this. It includes a sacred activation that helps with feeling stuck.
But you can also try these other steps in your daily life:
· Break tasks into micro-steps (small wins build momentum).
· Challenge limiting beliefs (ask: Is this really true?).
· Experiment & take imperfect action (movement creates clarity).
So what is the research on why we can sometimes feel stuck and like we can’t change our lives in some area?
One of the most insightful research studies on the psychology of feeling stuck is:
· "The Paradox of Choice: Why More Is Less" (2004) by Barry Schwartz
(This is not a single study, but a synthesis of psychological research on decision paralysis and stagnation.)
Other research has also found the following:
· Analysis Paralysis – When faced with too many options, people freeze rather than decide (Iyengar & Lepper, 2000).
· Maximizers vs. Satisfiers – Maximizers (those who seek the "perfect" choice) are more likely to feel stuck and regretful.
· Maximizers vs. Satisfiers – Satisfiers (those who settle for "good enough") move forward faster and report higher happiness.
· Fear of Regret – The anticipation of making the "wrong" choice leads to inaction (Gilovich & Medvec, 1995).
Remember it’s important to remember that when you feel stuck or you can’t change your life, it can often mean you're on the verge of a breakthrough.
In this meditation are also included the three foundational sacred activations- Lord Metatron, Tree of Life, and Flower of Life.
